This is a fluid situation and should the COVID conditions not improve the course will be rescheduled in full.

Due to the sudden increase in COVID-19 cases in Adelaide we have decided that from 11:59pm tonight that WA Satterley Hall will be closed. As soon as there is any update in regards to returning to play we will let you know. Please stay tuned to our website and social media pages.

Badminton South Australia and the Glenelg Badminton Club will host a Come N Try Para-Badminton event on the 6th of December at WA Sattlerley Hall Lockleys. Sporting Schools applications for term 1 2020 open from the 16th of November at 8:00am and I will remain open until 8:00pm on Friday the 27th of November. Please make sure you select Badminton as your sport of interest so that we can get in contact with you. We have a group of qualified coaches who have been especially trained to deliver our Sporting Schools programs. After an interrupted 2020, we are very keen to visit as many schools as possible in 2021 and make sure that students are being active and healthy.

Yulius has been involved with the Great Southern Badminton Association for a number of years. Ya-Hui has been involved with umpiring for the SA International and Helen has been an active member for the Sturt Badminton Club. Pleased to announce our regional trip to Renmark in week 9 of the school term. The purpose of the trip with to work with students from Renmark High School as part of the Sporting Schools program. We have also locked in a clinic on the 9th of December at St Joseph School in Barmera.
Super excited to announced our trip to the APY Lands, Coober Pedy and Port Augusta from the 23rd of November until the 27th of November. We will be working with Mimili Anangu School in the APY Lands & Coober Pedy Area School and we will be doing a school visit in Port Augusta on the way back to Adelaide on the 27th of November.
A lot of planning has gone into this and we are excited that we can finally announce it. As of the 2nd of November 2020 there will be a change in the casual court hire rates at Lockleys. For SABA members the cost of court hire will be $20.00/hour. Only those people who are members of SABA will be eligible to receive the cheaper rate. Non-member casual court hire will remain at $25.00/hour.

After some consideration we have decided to change the entry requirements for the BWF Level 1 coaching course starting on the 28th of November. Badminton South Australia is pleased to announce a BWF Level 1 coaching course in partnership with Badminton Oceanica. The course will take course over 4 days at St Peter's College (55 Hackney Road, St Peter’s 5069). The course will begin at 8:00am on Saturday the 28th of November and conclude on the 24th of January at 6:00pm. Days and times you would be required to attend are:
The course will be conducted by Stuart Rowlands from Badminton Australia. There is no cost for this coaching course; however, if you register for the course and do not attend all four days you will be charged $150.00 (regardless of your pass or fail status). Attendance at all four days of the course is a mandatory requirement. To register for the course, you will be required to have a current BWF Shuttletime certificate. You will also be required to have current coach registration with Badminton Australia. Badminton South Australia is excited to announce that Development Officer, Callum Dunk, will be coming to Jamestown. Callum will be working with Jamestown Community School as part of the Sporting Schools program. Whilst in the regional Callum will also visit Port Pirie and work with our club located in Port Pirie. Should be a fantastic week! The trip will begin on the 16th of November.

Callum will be working with Our Lady of the River School as part of the Sporting Schools program. Callum will visit a few other schools in the area to promote the participation of Badminton in regional areas of SA.

Please note there are strict conditions regarding entry.
The conditions include that the event is limited to players who have not been selected in a state junior team at any age level. Players who have been selected in a state team but have not actually participated in it (for whatever reason) may enter the event. To ensure that the people who care about badminton in South Australia shape its future, especially club members, we are undertaking a survey to better understand the views, aspirations and satisfaction levels of players and other stakeholders.
This survey, which will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete, will inform the draft Strategic Plan about which there will be further consultation in the coming months. The survey is open for completion from now until the end of October 2020 when the results will be collated and analysed. Sporting Schools applications for term 4 has been extended until the 11th of September. If you apply for the Sporting Schools funding please select Badminton as sport of interest so that we can contact you and make a booking. We have lots of coaches who are keen to get involved at the schools before the end of the year.
So far in 2020 we have visited 20 schools through the Sporting Schools funding and we are aiming to reach 30 before the end of the year! Please help us on our mission if you can. Thank you to all of the players who have attended the Junior Development Squad sessions since the middle of July. The program will be continue as it normally is on Monday nights and Saturday afternoons. Monday will continue as normal for the time being, while Saturdays will continue as normal until a Junior Coaching Coordinator is announced to manage and run all junior trainings. Thank you to those who have expressed their interest in coaching.
Sadly due to a lack of interest we have decided to cancel our Shuttletime course we had planned this week in Mount Gambier.

Badminton SA is delighted to announce that our Development Officer, Callum Dunk, will be heading to Mount Gambier for a regional trip starting on the 31st of August. The main purpose of this regional trip is to work with Suttontown Primary School using the Sporting School funding. Our trip will also include providing free participation clinics at Melaleuca Park Primary, Truro Primary School and Tension Woods Catholic School.
A Shuttletime course will be conducted on Tuesday the 1st of September in the evening, the time and location is still TBC. Callum will meet with the Grant Badminton Club in Mount Gambier to meet the members during their Monday night social session. We are looking at holding a Come N Try event at a local sport centre. Looking forward to getting back out into the country. First regional trip of 2020! |
